Natural Tranquility

When the time came to work on creating a mock exhibition catalog for an exhibit of six-panel screen paintings from the Muromachi period in Japanese history, I embraced the project. The task was to choose examples of historical six-panel paintings from the period and present them in the context of a pre-exhibit publicity catalog.

My initial thoughts were brought back to my experiences in the early '90s when my artwork was presented in galleries. Working through this project utilized and further developed my ability to deliver detailed information concisely and coherently. My initial misconception that it would not be an enriching element of this course was proven to be erroneous. Working on the presentation of the works and their corresponding descriptions was a fulfilling process.

Looking back over the work accomplished for this class, this stands out atop the other projects. The deeper understanding it brought to my interest in historical Japanese art was a bonus, making it a unique project.
