About Me
Hello, my name is Jonathan Ihrig. I recently graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Technical Communication from Arizona State University. I currently live in the greater Phoenix area, although I am open to relocating.
I look forward to finding meaningful work and making a positive impact using the skills I developed at ASU. My immediate career goals involve procedural writing, and a few examples would include standard operating procedures, instructional works, and detailed informational pieces. I am a native English speaker and am in the early stages of learning Japanese. In the future, I would enjoy adding translation responsibilities to my professional responsibilities.

Before returning to school to earn my degree, I worked in several fields, including Zoology, logistics, and fine art. As a result, I have lived in various locations around the United States. During my time living in Florida, I volunteered with the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Red Cross with their Disaster Services team, staffing storm shelters during hurricanes and organizing supplies to be sent to other chapters.
I have always been curious, which has fostered a lifelong enjoyment of learning. As a result, figuring things out has always brought me a smile. My creativity is an attribute of being able to develop solutions in those situations. I strengthened my creativity by studying fine art, which led to having my work shown in exhibitions in the past. My work in paints and inks has transitioned into landscape and wildlife photography. Some examples of that are shown on this page.

Also important is the natural world, being outdoors, and being active, which are a big part of who I am, whether that involves yoga, hiking, camping, biking, or just relaxing outside. Indoors, I have spent a great deal of time studying food, organic production in particular, on my own and, in the process, acquired a habit of collecting cookbooks and kitchen equipment. Trying new recipes or unfamiliar cuisines is always a good idea. I hope this sheds some additional light on who I am outside of my abilities in Technical Communication. Please reach out if you would like to know more.
